CaliBaja has over 90 colleges and universities and over 80 research institutes. San Diego is well known for its world class research centers such as Scripps Research Institute and the Salk Institute; its major research universities that include the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) and San Diego State University (SDSU), as well as other public and private universities that include CSU San Marcos, University of San Diego (USD), National University and Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU). Baja California has two state wide university systems, UABC and CETYS, and several national research centers, such as CICESE, COLEF and CITEDI.
